Not that it matters any, but this particular batch was done in keeping with a Pagan celebration and symbolism with the celebration, not with accuracy to how this particular pastry "should" look... and the extra filling was topped on the buns by my child. critique as you wish.

dude, that looks nothing like the Norwegian skolebroed. where is the powder sugar? its supposed to look like this: httrp://bilder.vgb.no/15426/3col/img_45581ad063e61.jpg. the reason for why they are so nice, is because the custard is filled inside the buns before they go into the oven - youre not supposed to put it in the top when they are already done. enjoy

I've made a similar recipe for years and it is fantastic! I add a clove or two of fresh crushed garlic when I saute the chicken and I've subbed a good sherry for the white wine with great results.

Hello,

Sorry, I am not familiar with Parliament spices and could not find anything on google. Perhaps it's a brand name?

I have a pack of De Ruiters Speculaas. The english ingredients list show "speculaaskruiden" as PARLIAMENT SPICES. Any thoughts on how this relates?

I added these to my own Yule baking this year, as well. They were really a hit, even with my finicky, cranberry-eschewing daughter. Thanks!
